Cloud watching part 2

This was actually based on a cloud as well, but I did this today from one of the really really quick skteches I did from the day of watching clouds, this is more of the one I've spent time on. (Again this is probably in my sub conscious because I think it was last year I had monkey portrait calender, one of them is now stuck on my wall foreveeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr haha)    So I present Ambrose the cycling gorilla!

Cloud watching

This is actually a result of cloud watching and probably my obbession of visiting dinosaur skeletons in the natural history musuem in London, nearly every time when I went when I was younger.

Last week when we had some okay weather in England ( yes I know its rare even August, the summer's not normally this bad haha)
I actually went outside and took my sketchbook to do the "childish" thing and imagine what the clouds really were. This is the result of that, its a little strange but I like it, sometimes it nice to look at the bones and structure underneath rather than what sits on top. :D

Homemade Gifts

This is a purse I made for my friend's birthday, with any luck she won't look at this blog this week or at least until she gets it. It's the first item I've sewn properly from a pattern that I made from card. My sewing skills aren't quite up to scratch as I like, but nevertheless I'm proud of it and it seems like a nicer gift to give rather than going and buying something for them.

Messing around

A little messing around in illustrator from last night, trying to practice the bezier curve, although I don't think I've even used it in these. I shall post the inspiration on my tumblr and inspire galore.
Just a little bit of fun, and I can stick them into my little note book as I'm starting to take notes again, hooray easing back into studying, never a joyous task to do haha.  http://littlemonsterslaugh.tumblr.com/

Inspiregalore

I said I would do a new blog for inspiration and I have ....http://inspiregalore.blogspot.co.uk/  .... see did you you click the link to see that I wasn't fibbing? Haha, just forgot to link it up. I have done one piece since this, but its another lion, you see I'm designing a pack of cards as my friend actually taught me a load of games, although it was 3am in the morning so I can't really remember anything other than losing... alot, Irish slam, go fish ( such an easy good game for 2am) and somehow we ended up playing mal, which was bit tricky to get my head around at 3am ...  and I decided to make the king of hearts and lion, because of something to do with braveheart, I think I was tired when I found the excuse of doing this as well haha.

Odds and things

I've been a little busy doing I have no idea what but I thought I'd just post a few things I've been up to. Other than the huge addiction to pinterest.com and craftgawker and etsy...

Right last week I did a few lions that I copied from a very pretty photo off of bing, ( the lion is now happily purring away in my sketchbook, I think there two in there now :) It was something that I enjoyed doing and reminded me of the days of watching the lion king on repeat.

I made a pacman banner. No you didn't imagine it, I really did make one. I got the idea from minieco http://www.minieco.co.uk/pacman-halloween-garland/ from her Halloween  garland of silhouettes which does look quite cool, and  you should check it out AND she also has the template there for it hence the beautiful right shapes that would have taken me forever as it looks like a simple task, and sod's law isn't on my side ever. I wanted to mine with colour though, as its summer and I just like colours it was actually hanging in the gazebo outside.

You see this is from well the remaining pieces of the pacman banner, randomly stuck down I say random, I really mean carefully places haha. Just so I didn't have to bin the shapes of coloured paper again, it was quite therapeutic. Although it probably looks like a mess, it was a good way to freely experiment with my fineliners again, yes I know I keep mentioning them but I like them... lots in case yous can't tell haha. I may actually keep going on this as it doesn't feel quite finished to me yet, but saying that I will probably over do it a tad and ruin it, we will see I suppose.

If only I could find a way to deck my room out in these colours, it would be great haha.

Then there's Pablo the penguin. He is the accident of trying to make an octopus which I did make, then very promptly deleted. I just couldn't do the cute octopus I wanted and then somehow this little penguin was born. I'm fairly certain is has something to do with watching the film happy feet, something about penguins dancing really sank into my subconscious. Its a little abstract and Pablo just seemed to fit well, yes I know I've done the childish thing and named the animal with a P starting name for P starting animal haha. Anyway that's four what  I hope are lovely things in one post, hoorah.

Ooh and it was one year yesterday since I started my fanfiction and its sill going *cheers* happy days!

New Blog on its way!

I've decided that I'm going to post a blog just of inspiration. Books, music, sculptures, design, papertoys, products, stationary, photography, landscapes, other sketchbooks, videos, animation, stop motion, places, artists, textiles and communities (this does make sense honestly)  !! The idea is to share and record what I find inspiring and to see how it effects and what impacts that it may have in my future work! The more I rant about the more I can feel myself smiling haha. Big smiles and see you later!!

There isn't a great detail that I can really tell you about this. Except that I missed using a graphite stick and it makes a nice change.

triangles

I've been experimenting with my watercolours and fineliners, anf forgot how much I missed working with a craft knife and paper, ok its not much but it was good practise for me to make cleaner cuts, and smaller triangles. Now wants to tell me how many triangles they can see? haha

I really want to put the link of james blunt singing my triangle from youtube. I miss the humour of my old maths teacher.

Inner gremlin

Theres a theroy that I recently read about onner gremlins and that each one of us has a living breathing gremlin inbedded in our brain. It constantly dimishes our self esteem and confidance, yes its a big mean nasty bully haha. I read that drawing or write it down, so you can visualise it, so you can tell it to shut its trap! So here is mine, except theres one problem... I rather like him, so I guess hes more the opposite sooo i shall have to try again, but it was fun trying to make somethibg ugly but then to find the results endearing and cute. C'est la vie.

Drawing Gandy street

Just playing around ( I say playing as if it took me under five minutes, that's not true it took me over 45 mins, perhaps an hour I wasn't really watching the time) with some new fineliners I bought. Well you see the thing s, I bought a few liked them, but then they faded and well it turns out that they didn't like watercolours either... but on these pens its actually written across the side of the pen"water and fade proof, pigment ink" so I shall see.

This would be the beautiful Gandy street, most known for its fantastic independent (yet some of these are more south west chain shops now, but some aren't ) shops and for being the inspiration behind THE  Diagon Alley, yes the street in Harry Potter!!

It's not a great drawing, but it's practice which I need to do clearly :D I kinda took a photograph at angle, and for some werid reason that was entirely subconscious that I would draw as if it had been taken from a "normalish" angle, hence everything's everywhere.

p.s. In case that you're wondering all those delightful scribbles that are in the bottom half of the drawing are ivy, its pretty dense, should have drawn more... maybe I will go over in watercolour... rambling thoughts continue.
